Our Story
From India to Morecambe, with love
One kitchen on Albert Road, and the flavours Pooja carried with her from India.
Pooja learned to cook in India, beside her family, in a kitchen that never seemed to close. Weddings, festivals, an ordinary Tuesday: every occasion had its dish, and she grew up knowing them all by heart. Whole spices toasted fresh, dough rolled by hand, sauces given the hours they need.
When she moved from India to England, the cooking came with her. It kept home within reach, and it gave her a way to share her culture with new friends and neighbours. Her table has always had room for one more.
Panjab Express is where she lays that table now. It is Pooja's kitchen on Albert Road, her food and her culture in one place, shared with the town she calls home. Everything is cooked fresh through the day: bases made each morning, marinades on before the shop opens, your order started the moment it comes in.
And the name is spelled the old way on purpose. Panjab is the original name of the land — from the Persian panj, five, and ab, waters, for the five rivers that flow through the region — and that is the spelling we carry in our name.
Fresh every day
Bases made each morning, and your dish cooked once you order it.
